Best Practices for Remote Working

Just as we were entering the first few weeks of Self-Quarantine in the United States, I was delighted to be asked by AWS hiring experts Jefferson Frank to contribute to their recently released business continuity white paper, which is free to download from their website now.

Titled ‘Overcoming Unprecedented Business Challenges With AWS, the publication is aimed at helping organizations survive, and thrive, through the COVID-19 crisis facing them, optimizing their cloud platform to ensure they’re best positioned to do so.

For AWS customers, it’s essential to make sure you’re making full use of your digital solution right now, and this is a great way to check you’re doing just that. The publication has collected the thoughts of several thought leaders and experts on the platform, and contains valuable advice across a number of areas, including business continuity, data security, and much more beyond.

It’s a valuable resource for businesses that need to use the potential of their cloud platform to ensure they can weather the storm. Organizations around the world are trying to adapt to the new way of working that’s been forced upon us, and this free-of-charge white paper is a treasure trove of advice from experts. It would be impossible to get this much technical know-how from them directly, so leaning on someone who has that access feels like something of an exclusive.

Working Effectively with Distributed Teams

The article I contributed is on the best practices for working from home. Having spent a lot of time working remotely, it’s something I feel I have a head-start on compared to others who’ve suddenly been thrown into this challenge. As much as spending the day working in your pajamas surrounded by home comforts sounds appealing, I think we’ve all discovered recently that it’s just not that simple.

I’ve included some of the biggest hurdles I faced, as well as how you can overcome them. That can be on the practical side, such as the importance of keeping physically healthy, or the mental element of being isolated from your colleagues on a full-time basis.

Hopefully it proves useful to those who are either working from home, or leading a team who are. I was lucky enough to see a copy of the publication before it was released, and think it will be incredibly useful to any professional who uses AWS.

The range of sources they’ve been able to draw from is really impressive, from thought leaders to AWS Heroes. There’s a huge amount of valuable insight covering a wide range of issues, that will help organizations around the world overcome the battle they’re currently facing.

The publication is available to download for free from Jefferson Frank’s website now. Hope you check it out! ?
